The numbers for the second episode are medicore, sadly. It drew a 7.5/12 to CSI:Miami's 11.5/19. With as much as the show is costing, it needs to pick up numbers, IMO. C'mon people, this is a VERY good show, and it may be like Sports Night and above the majority of people who would rather watch David Caruso drag a three second line out for two minutes and slowly pull his sunglasses off.

And my concern is this in a nutshell - and tell me that Aaron Sorkin is not pychic - I heard a news story sometime last week that said that NBC has announced that they are going more for the "reality show" concept - cheaper to produce and better ratings, generally...and that Studio 60 is their most expensive new show and in jeopardy if rating don't rebound...I think that is a sad commentary on what our culture deems as entertainment. Don't get me wrong...I like a night of "fluff" as much as the next person and I TiVo Survivor, but I like a good intelligent drama with the "snarky" (to borrow a West Wing phrase comedy and the courage to make you think and ponder your views on the current state of events. Funny and ironic to me that last week's (or maybe the week before) episode of Studio 60 was all about Amanda Peet not buying a guaranteed hit and changing "Danny's" mind about convincing that up and coming comedian to come to their network...NBC should take Sorkin's advice and aim higher. Studio 60 is one of the few NBC shows I watch anymore, or at least look forward to watching and that is just sad when it used to be one of my favorite networks with interesting programming.

it breaks my heart that this show isn't getting better ratings. i've just finished watching Bravo's marathon of most of the previous episodes, and i'm about to watch the newest episode AGAIN. this show has a lot going for it and i really like it. i would say that "i love it" but i don't want to sound desperate. but i wish more people would check it out, from the beginning if they need to, and see what all of our fuss is about. sadly, i bet no one but fans read this, so, what can i say to actually change anyone's mind.

I agree with you crewfreak, but I am willing to say that I do LOVE this show. I don't care how it sounds. This is one of the first shows I have enjoyed in a long time. I am tired of the reality shows out there and all the other mindless programs. If this show doesn't last it would be awful . Just one person's opinion.

I am so fed up with intelligently written shows getting shelved by networks that would rather air BS reality TV or expand to the nth degree a show that is so predictable like the CSI series. God forbid anyone give society a thought provoking, witty, well-acted series. I was a huge fan of SportsNight and now it looks like Studio 60 is going the way of the Do Do bird as well. I feel like there needs to be some sort of a movement to save shows like this. However, the suits at NBC (NBX) will never listen because it won't generate enough ad revenue. Ironic isn't it. Do you think Sorkin knew this would happen? The only hope is that maybe HBO will pick it up and it will be even better. Wishful thinking I am sure.
